Glass jewelry is becoming an increasingly popular choice for people looking to add a unique and delicate touch to their style. We're going to take a look at some of the benefits of choosing glass over other materials. So if you're considering adding a pair of glass earrings to your collection, read on!

How is handmade glass jewelry created?

Glass jewelry is created through the process of glassblowing. Many people do not know that there are many different types of glassblowing. When the word "glassblowing" is brought up, people think about furnace-style glassblowing. However, it is also possible to blow glass with a small torch and rods of clear and colored glass. This type of glass art goes by a few different names but lampworking and flameworking are the main ones.

In lampworking, a glass worker takes solid glass rods and/or tubing. The glass is solid at room temperature and the artist uses a bench torch to heat the glass until it becomes molten. Once the glass is in its molten state, the skilled artisan is able to shape the glass into whatever you can imagine. In our case, we form the molten glass into dangle earrings or hoop earrings.

How long do Glass Earrings last?

Glass earrings, when cared for properly, can last a lifetime. However, it is important to remember that glass is still a fragile material and should be treated with care. Avoid dropping or rough wear and tear, as this could result in chips or cracks in the glass.

Ladybug earrings are very durable. We kiln anneal all our products so that they have maximum strength and durability. Working with glass, you are bound to drop stuff from time to time. Very rarely do we see our hoop earrings break when dropped, but it does happen.

Treat your glass jewelry with care and you'll never have to worry about replacing them.

Benefits of glass earrings over plastic

Many earrings on the market are made from plastic or acrylic materials. While these materials can be cheaper and more readily available, they lack the unique beauty and shine of glass.

Glass jewelry is also a great choice for those with metal sensitivities, as it contains no metals or alloys. Dangle earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear, making them a great choice for those with sensitive ears.

We only use sterling silver and hypoallergenic titanium in our earrings. A few members of our family are highly sensitive to metal, so we understand how important it is to use only the best materials.

Are Ladybug Glass hoop earrings Murano glass?

This is a very common question that we get. Our blown earrings are not made from Murano glass. While Murano glass, aka Venetian glass, is a type of blown glass that originates in the Italian city of Venice, our earrings are handcrafted in the U.S. using high-quality American glass. Each pair is unique and carefully crafted with love by our skilled artisans.

So while our blown glass earrings may not be Murano glass, they are still beautiful and unique works of art that can add a touch of elegance to any outfit. Plus, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting local artists and small businesses with your purchase.

Glass earrings are beautiful, stylish, and unique. They come in a variety of colors and styles, making them the perfect addition to any outfit. Handmade glass earrings are also durable and can last a lifetime if properly cared for.
